Welcome to the Telecompaper Mobile MVNO/SP List. This is a fairly comprehensive listing of MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) and mobile SPs in the world today, as well as relevant news. Where possible, the defunct or purchased entities are listed as well. MVNEs are listed by country after MVNO/SPs. See below for general MVNEs, a news archive, some MVNO resources, etc.

German ISP 1&1 offers mobile services to its existing DSL/fixed telephony customer base. Started with mobile internet services in 2005 and expanded to include voice/SMS as well as smartphones in 2010, using the network of Vodafone Germany. In December 2013, a MVNO agreement was signed with E-Plus. In Q4 2017 1&1 owner United Internet bought Drillisch, making 1&1 a brand of 1&1 Drillisch.
Launched by telecom retail group Aetka in 2011 to be sold in all 2,300 Aetka points of sale around Germany.
Low-frills MVNO. Launched in Germany in December 2005, in Belgium in February 2007 and in the Netherlands in September 2009. The Belgium market exit was in July 2017 due to the prepaid registration law.
MVNO brand of KPN, focusing on Turkisch inhabitants, was active in several countries (currently only Germany). It stopped offering services in the Netherlands from half november 2012. In Belgium it changed to Turk Telecom in November 2012.
Launched by Germany's largest newspaper Bild Zeitung.
Started as pre-paid MVNO offering customers a chance to choose their own mobile number online. Since 2012 the MVNO has been taken over by E-Plus as one of it's discount brands.
MVNO launching 01 November 2005 as an easyGroup Ltd. and TDC joint-venture under name EasyMobile. Changed its name to Callmobile in november 2006 when TDC subsidiary Talkline acquired full ownership. Talkline was acquired by German mobile service provider Freenet as part of its acquisition of Debitel.

Drillisch Online GmbH distributes its products in the online segment via brands such as yourfone, smartmobil.de, simply, PremiumSIM, winSIM, maXXim or DeutschlandSIM. It is a brand of 1&1 Drillisch. In June 2019 it acquired 5G spectrum.
Launched by electronics retailers association Electronic Partner, first as comparison tool, later becoming a branded reseller of mobile services.
Replaced Edekamobile, using Telekom network instead of Vodafone.
Launched by O2 to replace Schlecker prepaid as Schlecker's other brand Smobil was acquired by Rossmann.

Telefonica Germany launched Fonic as it second brand offering discount services in 2007. Since 2010, Fonic provides the mobile tariffs for Lidl Mobile as well.
App-based mobile service launched by Telekom Deutschland
The freenet Group covers telecommunications, Internet, energy and tv, as well as all services, applications and devices that can be connected or controlled with mobile devices. It is active as MVNO under the brand names mobilcom-debitel, freenetmobile, klarmobil and Callmobile.

The Lebara Group is a telecommunications company providing services in many European countries.
Launched by discount supermarket Lidl on the network of Vodafone Germany. Replaces Lidl's branded reseller service Lidl Mobile via Telefonica's discount brand Fonic. Launched in Austria and Switzerland in June 2019.
Lycamobile offers prepaid SIM cards with reduced international calling rates, focusing on users who normally use calling cards to phone abroad. The company has set up MVNOs in the following countries: UK, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Portugal, Australia, Denmark, France, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Italy and recently US (March 2013) and Austria (November 2013), Tunisia (2015) and Romania (2015). Macedonia followed in 2016, and Lycamobile launched in Ukraine in July 2017. South Africa followed in 2019 and Uganda in 2020 It ceased its operations in Hong Kong in April 2018

Launched by Media Markt Saturn as own mobile service in Germany, also available under the Saturn brand. First a prepaid tarif via Mobilcom-Debitel on T-Mobile followed by postpaid and prepaid tariffs on O2 Germany's networks, followed by Austria in 2016 using the 3 Austria network.
Mobile services offered by German regional network operator M-net as add-on for existing broadband and fixed telephony customers.
Launched by ethnic consultancy Milleni, which was acquired by Star Communications in 2010. From the launch until the first half of 2012, Mobi used MVNE Vistream. In H1 2012, the customers were transferred to the network of Vodafone Germany.

Mobilcom-Debitel is a ervice provider on the networks of all mobile operators (T-Mobile, Vodafone, E-Plus and O2). The service was launched in 2009 after the acquistion of MobilCom by German mobile service provider Freenet.
German prepaid mobile service Mobilka, offered by E-Plus subsidiary Blau.de partnering with Eco World Connect for Russians living in Germany. In 2013, Ortel Mobile became responsible for marketing of all international calling brands offered by E-Plus including Mobilka and extended the sales agreement with Eco World Connect.

Launched as extra service for regional network operator Osnatel's DSL/telephony customers. Osnatel is a subsidiary of Ewe Tel.
Otelo (previous: O.tel.o) was launched as calling card service and acquired by Vodafone's Arcor 1999 to be dropped as brand in 2001. In 2010, Vodafone revived the brand as Otelo offering no firlls prepaid services as its second brand and the portfolio was enhanced with postpaid tariffs in September 2013.
Penny Mobil was Launched by German supermarket group Rewe as prepaid discount brand.
Launched by German online mobile shop Eteleon, which was acquired by German mobile service provider Drillisch in 2011.
DSL/fixed telephony service provider Primacall also offers mobile flatrates to its DSL/telephony customers in Germany and Switzerland. Owned by Primaholding, which also operates Primamobile and Primstrom.

Tchibo Mobil was launched as first MVNO in Germany in 2004 and is a partnership between coffee house chain Tchibo and O2 Germany. In April 2018, Tchibo's Austrian subsidiary Eduscho launched Tchibo Mobil as mobile service in Austria using the network of 3 Austria.

Cable operator Tele Columbus launched mobile services on Telefonica Deutschland's network for its fixed network customers on 1 September 2015 partnering with German MVNO Drillisch.Trades as Pyur since 2017.
In Norway Tele2 was bought by TeliaSonera in 2015. Initially it was merged with Telia's brand in Norway, Netcom. However in 2016 Netcom was rebranded to Telia. No longer active as mobile provider in Ireland or France, Denmark sold to Telenor, Switzerland sold to Sunrise in 2008.Portugal sold to Clix
Kiel-based utilities provider TNG offers mobile services as add-on for fixed network services
Truphone focuses on its global network through its own network infrastructure (points of presence include: London, New York, Amsterdam, Sydney, California and Hong Kong) and partnerships with other operators. It offers an international multi-identity Sim which seamlessly switches to operate as a local Sim.
Launched by Turkish mobile operator Turkcell targetting the Turkish community in Germany. Rebranded to Lifecell in Q1 2018 and ended in Q2 2020
Cooperation between Turk Telekom and O2 to target Turkish community in Germany. Started services as TurkTelekom Mobile, changed name to TurkeiSim in February 2017.
